Then the sops came into the room... lol... he had to malu a bit... anyway, Prem 'played' the piano... anyhow play.... cuz its the electric one... and the song can be played automatically... yah.... hands-free... then only those performing for the permanent secretary leaving thing have to stay back to learn a funny song called 'come go with me'. Weird song... Very weird. Timetable... I woke up late. Woke up at 10. Yeah... I had my breakfast down my house juz b4 I went to Bedok MRT Station... going to visit Mrs Tan. I was the first to arrive... then was Lyn... trying to scare me... too bad didn't :P. K and so the rest arrived. I mean... at different times. In order of who I saw... Me, k fine, I didnt see myself, Lyn, Zhi Jie, Mabel, Sin Lek, Wei Ze, Anand, Woon Yang (waiting behind the gate, cuz he came from Eunos) and Samson... who went to Punggol himself. Okay.. he was there very early... When the 8 of us were at Punggol, it was so deserted, we dun have Samson's mother's hp no.(he brought his mum's hp) and we thought he was late... but in fact he was earlier than us. So a rather short walk across the field to some deserted high-rise buildings and eh.... went up. Yeah... when we press the doorbell... some of us were like hiding... haha..... I think she half saw me while she opened the door... Anyway, she didn't remember Lyn only... I think... then we settled down b4 we had some lunch.... sandwiches.... yeah. I can't seem to access their website now so I can't find their email. But anyway, here thay are. (not copying the whole junk anyway) 1) Frames. Okay... I know 99% of the blogs dun have frames, but oh well... other sites have... and when they link you, it shows ur blog but the URL is their site. Ah well... you're cleared from the frames the moment you entered my blog anyway. 2) Scrolling marquees. Yeah, only newbies think it's nice, but to visitors, they aren't. 3) Anything blinking. This will distract people from reading your blog... so watch out on this one. 4) Lake Applet. You try searching for that lake applet and you'll get waht I mean. At first it's nice, but sooner or later it's boring, and it takes a very long time to load. 5) Animated cursors. Many people prefer to choose their own cursor from their own computer, for mine, the normal cursor is changed to the the arrow with the tail wagging... haha. Anyway, if you enter the page with these kinda cursors, people might go 'eh, how come my cursor changes?' Okay... just dun change the cursor. 6) Spawning new windows. That means there would be a link and it opens in a new window without warning. You see, after reading that paragraph, I added all side links a warning... you should see 'links open in a new window' rite? Yeah... because the visitor might think it's some kinda advertisements... and it's rude to not warn them. 7) Anything that pops up without warning. Like those javascript alerts and prompts. Yeah, sometimes I go into a blog and see the pop up window saying dunno wad crap lah... and soem worse still, just won't end until after five six clicks. 8) Restricting the users' controls. Includes removing the status bar, back/forward button, so forth. JavaScript can be a killer... Ah well... it's rude, you never know what is best for the user. 9) Hijacking the status bar. Haha... nice word, HIJACK... yah, this one, many blogs have... those that display messages. The status bar is used for displaying links and statuses and not displaying funny messages when they are not funny. This trick is used by pay-per-click sites, to trick people into clicking them. Experienced surfers will never click on them. 10) Disabling right-clicking. The most stupid thing that a person would do. Because usually the person is trying to prevent people from viewing source code or stealing images. Well, it actually encourages them... really. It takes less than a few seconds to do so. Know the method? a) press both buttons. b) press the menu button that is to the left of the right ctrl key c) press the right button, answer the prompt by pressing enter, release the right button, answer the prompt, and tada.. d) turn off javascript. What about images? a) left click the image and drag it to a graphics programme or a local folder. b) print screen on their computer, then copy it and paste it to a graphics programme and edit it. c) retrieve the image from the browser's cache. d) view the page source and go directly to the url of the image e) again, turn off javascript. Besides being worthless to security, some people use the right mouse button as their main button because they are left handed or whatever. If you disable right-click, they cannot access your page, and the left mouse button will do the 'right-click' instead. In addition, there are many other functions of the right-click besides the 'view source' and the 'save as'. 11) Background music. To say, background music aren't background, they are foreground. They distract the user from reading this reading that, and the music loads for a very long time if it's in mp3 format. The user may also be listening to his/her own music on his/her own computer. Imagines when you are listening to Avril Lavigne songs when sudden the Linkin Park songs booms in. 12) JavaScript for important functions. This may be weird, but actually, around 20% of the users surf the internet without enabling JavaScript. So try not to use Javascript for very important functions. Oh yeah, my page uses JavaScript :S... ok lah, only the one to prevent you from being stuck into frames. If you dun have JavaScript enabled then maybe you're in some page with frames. In a picture gallery(out of blogs topic), you might wanna try using thumbnail images to save load time. Okay, for websites only, but make sure your blog has content in them... haha 17) Screen resolution/Browser specified sites. You may have seen some sites writing 'Best viewed in Netscape' or 'Best viewed in 800 x 600 screen resolution. Well... it's rather a useless indicator. Nobody is going to change the browser or screen resolution just to view your site, they prefer it the way they set it. 18) Animation. Well... for websites only, but I do see some blogs with animation, so i just briefly say. Animations distract users from reading your blog. Well.. yah... the end. 19) Page transitions. Okay... to you maybe it's nice, to visitors, it's not. Have you ever heard of a word called 'lagging'? Ok great. 20) Deceptive Advertisements. Fortunately, the one you see on top of most blogs are not deceptive. What I mean by deceptive is that the banner ad has a checkbox, dropdown menu, radio button, alert, whatever, that fakes people onto clicking them, and clicking them will take them to the page where the ad wants them to be. Well... okay, that's irritating. You see them in a lot of sites. Well... anyway, the blogger ad is irritating enough, you can hide the ad or cover it with whatever you can do. Okay... I hope this will help you create better (but not nice... actually these makes them nicer to view) blogs. I didn't remember switching off my alarm of my handphone... but anyway... I thought the workshop starts at 9... but yesterday Joshua told me to get to Punggol myself by 11, there will be no chartered bus... (did I type this on the previous entry? Sorry for my short-term memory) But anyway, I took bus 31 to tampines interchange first before taking bus 3. Anyway, it starts at 11 for tenors and basses, the earlier one is sops and altos do 'can you hear me'. Theodore the student conductor said that the sops and altos brought VS to a shame... first they had no score to show the overseas clinician (hang on, actually nobody asked us to bring our scores, but who cares, Im not in sops/altos), second, their voices flop flog flop dunno whatever... and the third thing... Theodore doesn't know whether it was Neng Wei or Teng Wei who came late and went up the stage just like that when they were performing... Oh anyway, when we SATB performed the 'It was a lover and his lass', it wasn't too bad... haha :P Oh well... anyway, went to Tampines Mall after that, actually wanted to find my dad's birthday gift, no hurry until 21st anyway, but can't find, plus I only had $10 for my lunch and gifts if I buy... Anyway, bought from MCDONALDS AGAIN lunch AND dinner :S, well... quite cheap lah... haha... cuz got the discount... well... anyway, I saw Junzhe today. Yesterday was Shimon outside TM and now it's Junzhe outside TM with some friends from VS, not in uniform. Today my mother went to Hong Kong and won't be back til the 19th of June. She left at 6+... then I was woken up by a phone call after she had left... it was a taxi driver... he tell me that he can't enter my estate there because of the construction works... hahaha serve him right... but anyway, I tell him to go New Upper Changi Road there then he was like 'oh shit' whatever... but hung up politely... Well... I slept 15min overtime but I was like... 20 min early... Then the first thing Johnnie talked to me about was about the Choral Excellence thing... haha... those who never go can go for a briefing next week... he didn't listen so too bad. Anyway, we reach Meridian JC at around 11 am. The variety of buses at the bus stop there quite a lot huh? Bus 3, bus 3 and bus 3. Haha anyway we went inside the auditorium... so small... heard from others that they got many auditoriums... whatever lah... then inside the auditorium was all Mr Kwei's choirs from St. Andrews Sec, Victoria, Commonwealth Sec and Tanjong Katong Sec. Ah well... there was this choir conductor from Phillipines... then each of the schools sang a song then he will say this say that. Like as if he's so gd like that but he really is... haha. Anyway... St Andrews the choir very *pukes* leh.... like sh!+... no offense anyway...... but I can't expect it to be under Mr Kwei.. We all sang 'Come again'. One of the stanzas was 'To see, to hear, to touch, to kiss, to die...." yeah... to kiss then will die... :S... another one 'I sit, I sigh, I weep, I faint, I die..." I die again... haha... anyway... I think we performed the best lah... he didn't spend much time on us that's why. After that thing I went home taking bus... what else? Bus 3 lah of course. Almost went to punggol :S. Anyway Johnnie and Sean Tan? left earlier... then cuz this bus goes to Tampines via Pasir Ris interchange then I saw Johnnie and Sean Tan? and they asked the driver whether the bus is going MJC... haha... wonder why they going back... but too bad, that wasn't the bus... they had to take the bus that goes back... not to Tampines... I hope they miss the bus stop then wake up finding themselves at Punggol :P. Had lunch at TM... I saw the very irritating sec 2 guy Kenneth from badminton one... he wasn't wearign a school uniform... I think he got some other friends... cant see... I dun think he saw me anyway... and I also met Shimon... say dunno wad cousin thing lah. Okay... I've written damn a lot... haha.. I dunno where's Evans Road, so I took a cab from Novena. $5.30 leh... so expensive. I reached there at 8.30 am when it's supposed to start at 9 am. Then the security guard told me to wait. Then at 8.35 a group of dunno-what-school came and so the guard went to unlock the auditorium. I waited until 8.50 then Joshua and Fadhil came, and no more. 3 of us only... out of 21. Susanto Wilson got fever, the rest all in jubilate choir festival. Nothing lah... in the auditorium there were 17 sec schs, including Victoria, ACSI, RI, RGS, AHS, MGS, St Nicks, TKGS, Catholic High, so on. They told us what that Choral Festival is all about and so on. Then we were sent to our own sections... Im in M3, the only Victorian that time. Very diu lian leh... Haha... there were only boys in tenor and bass and girls in sops and altos. So many girls sia... only 7 tenors including me and 3 basses. Then we went to practise on our own 'Deep River'. Rather nice song lah. The altos get to be conducted by the conductor called Miss Sharon something :P. Then the sops so hardworking... can see them practise... we all because a few people only, that's why we sorta combined with the basses and in the end we slack... but managed to learn the song... plus teach the basses who were very lost... haha. Then combined... so funny and so nice.... then we tenors sorta dunno the parts but sorta drowned by the sops and altos... so the teacher didn't ask to listen to us sing again :D haha. Then the Gershwin Medley got amny people including me got odd pages missing, then in tenors and basses all dun have odd pages, one of the tenors from ACSI went to ask 'GIRLS, CAN WE BORROW A COPY? ALL OF US TENORS GOT NO SCORES' haha. Then Miss Sharon something (not Stone) teach us while we go through loh... can't learn anything... just go through... haha. Then after that shared a cab with Fadhil to Novena... $2.40 each...
